Project Aarogya, a short-term initiative running from December 2024 to March 2025, focused on enhancing healthcare infrastructure in 10 Primary Health Centres (PHCs) located in the Anaimalai, Periyanaickenpalayam, Karamadai, and Pollachi North blocks of Coimbatore District. Supported by Bosch Global Software Technologies, this project aimed at upgrading civil infrastructure and equipping these centres with essential medical facilities. Within a span of just four months, the project successfully completed extensive renovations, including improvements to sanitation, water supply systems, waiting areas, and general infrastructure, making the PHCs more accessible and functional for the communities they serve.
The core objective was to address the specific healthcare needs of marginalized tribal communities who predominantly rely on these PHCs for healthcare services. By providing modern medical equipment such as diagnostic tools and life-saving devices, the project has significantly enhanced the quality of healthcare delivery. Healthcare staff now have access to better resources to diagnose and treat various health conditions, improving overall health outcomes in these underserved areas.
The collaboration with Bosch Global Software Technologies has been instrumental in the timely execution and success of this initiative. This partnership ensured the successful upgrading of infrastructure and the provision of high-quality medical equipment that will continue to serve the community well beyond the project timeline. Through this initiative, we have made a meaningful impact in improving access to healthcare for vulnerable populations in Coimbatore, especially in the rural and tribal areas of Anaimalai, Periyanaickenpalayam, Karamadai, and Pollachi North. This will ensure a healthier future for all, enhancing the well-being of the communities in these regions.

Sunitha R: From Daily Wages to a Thriving Entrepreneur In the remote tribal village of Devarsholai, Machikolli, in Nilgiri district , 23-year-old Sunitha R belonging to kattunayaka tribal community once struggled to support her family as a daily wage labourer. Earning a modest ₹1,500 to ₹2,000 per month, she found it challenging to meet even their basic needs. Coming from a tribal community traditionally reliant on forest-based livelihoods, Sunitha faced limited opportunities as these resources dwindled. However, her life took a remarkable turn with the intervention of NMCT-NABARD project which empowered her to build a sustainable future through mini poultry and goat farming.
With NABARD’s support, Sunitha received a mini poultry setup with cages and four goats, along with comprehensive training in poultry and goat management. She was also guided on marketing and sales strategies to ensure her venture’s success. What began as a small project soon blossomed into a transformative journey. The impact on Sunitha’s life has been profound. Her monthly income has risen by ₹4,000 to ₹5,000, significantly improving her family’s standard of living. Beyond financial gains, the project has ensured a steady supply of eggs, meat, and dairy products, enhancing her family’s food security and nutrition. For Sunitha, this venture has meant more than just economic stability—it has brought independence. She now makes her own decisions about her life and business, a freedom she once could only dream of. Sunitha’s success extends beyond her household. Empowered and confident, she has become an active participant in her community, contributing to local activities and decision-making processes. Her story is a shining example of how entrepreneurship can break the cycle of poverty and uplift tribal women.
Through NMCT-NABARD Project’s support—providing resources, training, and encouragement—Sunitha R has transformed from a daily wage laborer into a successful entrepreneur. Her journey underscores the power of sustainable livelihoods in fostering economic independence and empowering individuals to rewrite their futures. Today, Sunitha stands as an inspiration, proving that with the right opportunities, determination, and support, anyone can rise above adversity and thrive
